Hello! My name is Mrs. Torres, and I am excited to be teaching 6th Grade Math at Paseo Hills!
Before becoming a teacher, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resource Management from Colorado Technical University in 2007. I spent 12 years working in Human Resources before following my passion for education.
This is my 4th year teaching 6th Grade Math and my 3rd year at Paseo Hills. I began my teaching career at Park Meadows. I became a teacher because I truly enjoy working with kids and helping them learn, grow, and gain confidence in themselves.
My family keeps me busy! I have two children in the Deer Valley Unified School District. My son, Christopher, is in 6th grade, and my daughter, Sophia, recently graduated from high school and will be attending Northern Arizona University (NAU).
We also have a house full of pets! Our family includes three dogs—Sigrun, Sundae, and Skully—a Bumblebee Ball Python named Bumblebee, and a Leopard Gecko named Blueberry Cheezit.
Outside of school, my family and I love Star Wars, Disney, and Marvel. We enjoy attending San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks baseball games, traveling, exploring new places, rockhounding for crystals, swimming, baking, making bracelets, and watching movies. This summer, we had a wonderful time visiting Hawaii and California.
I am looking forward to a fantastic school year and can't wait to help every student succeed in math!
